Of all the springers I have tried from UHC, HFC, Y&P, 3PSA (Korean contract), or Daisy, KWC is by far my favorite springer manufacturer as of this piece: the KWC G17.
Being a Glock, the gun is contoured nicely, this translates into easy handling, which translates yet again into great out of the box accuracy (combined with the fact that the Glock IS very accurate). Handling, to me, is paramount to any airsoft, after all, if you can't easily use the gun effectively, why get it in the first place? (Besides as a show piece =)
The sights are non-adjustable but are accurate. The slide pull is smooth and easy despite the guns power. The grips and lower frame are very finely textured, giving the gun a very authentic feel despite the lightweight. The box states weight as 360 grams, about thirteen ounces. The gun is very balanced, twirling it around your fingers is no problem at all =). The gun sports some fake trademarks, saying KWC in a 'box' where it should say Glock on the slide. The frame also has some serial numbers on it.
The magazine holds thirteen rounds and is both brilliantly, and stupidly constructed. The spring does lock down in a rather strange way. Instead of having a piece of metal that pivots outwards and locks into a cut in the magazine, the spring is pulled all the way down and locks itself into a divot at the bottom. This is good because you cannot discharge the spring without pressing the side of the magazine. This reduces the number of times the spring and follower accidentally slips while loading the magazine. Now for the brilliant/idiotic part, to actually load the bbs into the magazine, once you have the spring down you have to press a lever that covers the hole in which you load the bbs into. This lever pivots up (and has a spring under it so when you take pressure off it drops, covering the hole again) leaving the hole exposed so you can just drop bbs in. This is great if you have a speed loader, you can easily load 13 rounds if you are using it as a primary in a springer game. However, this is also very poorly designed at the same time. Extra magazines, because of this lever, would be VERY hard to reliably carry as if it is loaded, and the lever is bumped: no more loaded bbs! Overall however being "limited" to one magazine generally satisfies my uses.
Function wise the gun has a on frame safety, magazine release and a actual working trigger safety! By far the neatest thing I've ever seen on a springer. The slide release unfortunately is molded and does not serve any purpose.
The gun can also be stripped with the help of a few tools. A pencil or toothpick plus a Phillips head screwdriver is needed to take apart the gun. First, locate the pin on the grip towards the back of the gun; push this out with the toothpick. After that is done, flip the gun over so the magazine well faces you, there should be a screw on the underside of the gun in front of the trigger guard. Unscrew this and the slide should be able to be pulled off, the internals will be kept in the slide. Reverse the process to put the gun back together.
Power wise, this is the strongest springer I have held. Using .2 gram bbs as the hop-up is set for .2 it can shoot through thick cardboard boxes at short ranges, which is more than I can say of my KWC M92 Super heavy on 134a gas! The springer probably in the range of .4 to .6 joules, or around 210 to 250 FPS with a .2-gram bb!
The accuracy of the gun is superb as well. Although this is hardly a scientific test, on my first try from 25 feet outdoors with no wind, I managed a <2-inch grouping with 13 shots!
In conclusion, despite the fact that the pistol only holds 13 rounds and extra magazines are not too feasible to carry, this gun would make a EXCELLENT sidearm, quite possibly even in an AEG dominated game. In a springer only game, this gun would most likely have the upper hand in both power, accuracy, and range as it is stronger than any springer I have come across, more accurate, and uses .2-gram bbs so it will be less affected by wind, just be sure to take the time to line up your shots! (You'll need every one of them =)
