Introduction:
I just purchased the TM M4-S and with it the King Arms G27 Pistol Grip. I really hate how the stok grip keeps nudging your middle finger when held to tight for too long - so along with my newest M4 i had to get a new grip with it. I'm no techie - but I do like to tinker about.
The Grip:
The first initial feel is great. It's somewhat bigger than the stok grip, but does in no way feel too big (my index finger is 7,5cm from webbing and out). The grip is not favouring left or right hand people.
Installation:
As this was my first attemt of removing the grip, I'll just say....next time - taking off the grip will take me 2 minutes and not 30+ minutes. I just didn't want to break anything because I hurried the job. Remember to keep the stok grip's bottom plate as you use it with the King Arms G27 Pistol Grip. Sliding the new grip on is a breeze. However - at the top - the arch of the grip will not follow the arch of the receiver completely. We are looking at 1mm - so it's nothing too disturbing. It's nothing really - but compared to the stok grip I guess I was expecting the same fit.
Getting the new grip fastend to the receiver is quick and there are ampel of holes for the screws and wires to go through it. Lowering the motor and connecting the wires to it should prove no problem, but the following is pretty tricky. Getting the bottom plate installed on the new grip....It was like the hole for the plate was cut all wrong. My first attempt was almost my last, as the bottom plate was very difficult to get installed properly lined for the screw holes. Alot of pushing and tweeking was called for. Once in place I needed to turn the 'fine adjustment screw' all the way down before the motor finally grabbed the gears, but with a strange sound added. So I opened up the bottom plate again and adjusted the motor. This time I still had to push and really make sure the screw holes was in line - but as I was getting the last screw (the long one at the back) all the way down..it broke. Not the screw, but the plastic that held the crown (metal molded into the plastic to reinforce the screws grip) in the grip.
I'm not sure what went wrong here - but in my oppinion, it must have been the strain caused from the bad alignment between the bottom plate and grip.
Conclusion:
I'm going to buy another 'King Arms G27 Pistol Grip'. It's a nice grip and I might have done something wrong, but keep in mind that I was being very careful - not only because it was the first time trying this 'operation', but also because messing with the motor and gears is bad karma - if not careful.
The initial feel and comfort is worth 9, but the installation outcome forces me to drop it to 7.
