INTRO

When I first was getting into airsoft (aside a few springers) the KJW M9 looked really awesome on airsoftatlanta's website. After asking tons of people and doing research on it, I've decided to purchase it. I found it at airsoft128.com, where it cost me $79.99 (same as AirsoftAtlanta.com) but there I got a free shooter’s bag, gas canister, and shipping. It was a mistake, after making numerous phone calls it finally arrived after 2 weeks of purchase, err. I tore open the box, and immediately went for it. After reading the instructions and filling the sucker up, I fired a test shot to the wall. My brother (who just fired at me with a springer) started yelling like a girl - begging me not to shot him (as revenge). The KJW had a LOUD intimating noise indoors, and it sounds very powerful. First impressions were satisfying, and the gun looked and felt awesome.

THE GUN

- External Body

It looks 1:1 to the Y&P M9 NBB. Many say it looks like a springer too. Quality of the work done on the external detail is nothing to brag about. Compared to a KSC, or TM M9, its rather plain and basic. I don't mean to say the external plastic is of poor quality (cause it took tons of abuse without damage), I just mean not a lot of detail put into it.

External metal parts include trigger, hammer, safety, slide release, Slide stopper, trigger link rod, and barrel guide latch release.

External Plastic of Body - Although I said the plastic body looks nothing like a TM or KSC... it has its advantages to looks too. The plastic body is VERY dark black, which looks very cool. From a distance, its looks like a real berretta (w/o orange tip). Up close you can tell its plastic, but overall its looks cool.

Other notes on the external body:

- It does not have official berretta trademarks, but the KJ trademarks look nicer then that of a KSC or KWC, for the "KJ" are in wavy cursive writing that looks kind of like two blades.

- My SECOND KJW M9 is different then the first.

First M9

- 1 inch orange tip on barrel

- Light layer of black paint

- Metal parts not painted

- Sights with red dots Second M9

- A small 1/4 " orange cork (not a painted 1" orange tip)

- Thick dark layer of black paint

- Metal parts painted thickly

- Sights with white dots most retailers still sell the first version of the M9, but I was lucky enough to get the next generation.

INTERNALS

Lots of metal inside, very durable configuration of internals. All plastic parts consisted of a heavy-duty rubberized plastic, which can withstand a beating. The guns pops open in a snap, very easy to take down and put together. The internals consist of exactly 80 parts (including springs and screws)

Metal Parts include:

Inner barrel, Recoil spring guide, Recoil spring, Main machine shell L, Main machine shell R, Slide Trajectory, fixer, locking piece, a bunch of internal slide parts, screw, springs, and the rest of the little parts here and there.

Like I said the rest of the internals are not just plastic, their heavy duty rubberized plastic. The internal configuration looks very sturdy and stable.

MAGAZINE

The magazine consists of 11 parts total (spring, base, body, ejection valve, input valve, upper mouth, and a few other, which I don't know their names.

The body of the magazine is fully metal, and VERY heavy. The input valve is larger in size then that of a TM and KSC, not sure of WA.

Holds enough gas for 3 mags

Holds up to 25 bbs*

Takes in air smoothly with NO gas spill

It does not spill gas when full so you must time your gas input to 2 seconds.

*Holds 25bbs, but do not put more then 22bbs or it starts to misfeed during operation. Not big of a problem though.

SHOOTING AND BLOWBACK

I've heard many people say it has average blowback, but from my experience it has a excellent blowback. The blowback is very crisp and smooth. The recoil effect is as strong as you can expect for a M9 (not in comparison with WA M9 - never used it).

Range - (not some website numbers, but from my own personal experience)

Effective Range: 60 feet

Overall Range: 110+ feet (before bb hits the ground)

Accuracy: 0.2gg bbs seem to fly rather straight, no swerves or curves. The fly straight until they hit the ground.

Average FPS of 270-285fps on .2g bbs it is able to fire thru an empty coke can with 1 shot.

DEPENDABILITY and DURABILITY

I have had a number of jams with it, but I soon learned that it was due to the overload of bbs. As stated before, do not put more then 22bbs inside the magazine. Actually, you should never fill the magazine of any gun to its max. Other than that it is a very dependable piece, has yet to fail me.

I have dropped it, got water into it, got sand and dirt all over it, and many more harsh things done to it. It just keeps on going. I've played a open skirmishing the rain with it (not holstered, open to the rain cause it was my primary weapon). I've dropped it wet on a sandy hill (I know I should never drop my gun, bad move) but after blowing the sand off the slider railing it worked like always.

Very durable...

Other Pros:

- It is VERY gas efficient. Shoots on average 1500+ shots on a single 1000ml can. This is on a warm day, not cold.

- Excellent Manuel

- Cool looking box

CONS and FLAWS

- The slider starts to develop a slight crack near the safety switch, but it is purely cosmetic. Does not effect its performance. Just add some superglue to cease it from growing.

- Magazine issue stated above. Loading a full mags results in misfeeds.

- No official trademarks

- Nothing else comes to mind

OVERALL

It is a great GBB. It is very very durable and a dependable piece. I'd recommend it as a sidearm. Its performance it’s excellent for $79.99. Although there are many other M9's (KSC, TM, and WA), which are more superior to it, the KJW is only59.99 now. The saying "Don't a buy a GBB under $100" has an exception to the KJW. It is probably the only brand that sells its products below $100 yet retails the quality of a GBB above $100. It is an excellent newbie GBB for it is very simple. And the still very cheap KJW M9 Fully Metal ($119.99) is another advantage over other GBBs that cost well over $150.

I'll add more information and maybe pictures later (email me for pics if wanted). Correct if I missed anything in the review or if any information is invalid.

The KJW M9s don't require any special care really. It’s rather simple to disassemble, and clean.

After a good long skirmish, remember to always clean it completely. Take a dry cotton cloth and gently clean every part inside. After doing so, apply a fresh coating of silicon oil.

Key parts to keep clean:

Inner Barrel,

Slide Railings,

Valves,

bb feeder,

Inside of mag (if dirt gets inside, it would cause misfeeds)

Hop-up,

Anything that could have been exposed to dirt.

You don't have to do it after every backyard game, or even if used as a sidearm in a open skirmish. I cleaned mine after every open-skirmish because I used as my primary weapon (fired 1000s of shots per game).

It’s a good durable gun.
