Well, your question has left such a large selection to choose from, any clone M4 will work.

A&K, Dboys, Echo1, JG, etc...

ha yea i realized that but what in your opinion is the best company for a m4 for about 150-200
Wonko_The_Sane
I like A&K's for there metal bodies.
Nccnxo1estar
You can also check out Echo1 and Dboy. If you can, you should save up for an Echo1 at least.

The Dboy M4 series have a decent metal body, but their internals are rather lacking. Are you just getting into the sport?

Also this is posted in the wrong section.

ive played before with like 15 on 15 teams but i never had a aeg before im lookin for a m4 with a reliable gear box i dont really care if the outside is plastic
Wonko_The_Sane
Then you might want to check out an CA sportline or even JG if you just want good performance and don't care for metal bodies

Only AEG I currently own to use is a TM PSG-1. I don't use normal AEG's.

All the brands the other guys have mentioned are fine. I've been running a Dboys M4 RASII, and its been running strong for a good 6 months now with no problems. I'm fairly impressed with it and its got quite a few nifty features.

Another good option would be one of G&G's sportline models. A teammate of mine has been running his M4 from them for well over a year and its still running like a champ. Its relatively quiet, has a durable plastic body, and is very accurate. I would highly recommend one.

would this be a good starter http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.ph...oducts_id=28081

Did you look at the G&G sportline models I posted the link to? Try those out. I probably wouldn't suggest the gun you posted, even though TSD isn't bad. Honestly, you would probably get laughed at on the feild with a clear gun... and thats no fun.

Also, I would stray away from evike (airsoftpost.com) on big purchases. They tend to screw up. A lot. Try www.airsoftgi.com
Wonko_The_Sane
Heh, yea avoid Evike rolleyes.gif

ha yea ive heard about evike doing that but if i get dat clear gun ill prob paint it with plastic adherant spray paint because it comes out good with that and yes i did look at the g&g sportlines and im considering one of them thanks for all the help
Wonko_The_Sane
Don't even bother with a clear gun unless you are in Canada...
Nccnxo1estar
Eh color/clear is whatever floats your boat, but I noticed that the gun is TSD which used to be SRC. They have made some pretty fine guns in the past, but I wouldn't use anything past 8.4v as I am not sure if they re-made the motor.

Well he was saying he would paint it. Just seems ridicules to get a clear gun for the price of a black gun and paint the clear one?
Nccnxo1estar
Wow, some how I completely missed that. If you do a camo job, and know how to paint I guess it would be fine...
Wonko_The_Sane
How many camo paint jobs do you see though that don't peel off after use though? tongue.gif
Nccnxo1estar
One of mine! tongue.gif I used Citadel paint, and my awesome painting skills! It seriously lasted 4-5years.
Dark_Harvey
Wow, yeah, I can see no reason to get a clear gun. That's the first time I've heard tell of one for ages, much less someone wanting one.. sleep.gif

The other guys are putting you on the right track. For your stated price range, I'd certainly look into a G&G or CA sportline model. The internals are more likely to treat you well than most clones would, though if metal externals were big for you (which you've stated they're not) then an A&K or some such would be a good way to go. I'd probably get a G&G sportline if I were in your shoes.
Wonko_The_Sane
Ha, ok ok, perhaps some few paintjobs don't wear away tongue.gif but I got a feeling the OP wouldn't go through that much trouble or cost to do anything more than just a few coats of Krylon Flat Black.
roebuck456
A&K are good but i suggest you look at the ca sportline and the g&g affordable series too.

CA36c - painted, 99% of gearbox replaced, mosfet, right at 400fps with .25s, probably 30 or so rps
ICS MP5 V2 - painted, most of gearbox replaced, 270 fps with .20s, mosfet, 20 or so rps
CA SLR105 - mostly stock, pushing maybe 350 with .25s
KWA Glock 18 - stock

But none of those except maybe the Glock are starter guns. Go with what the guys here are saying. You don't want a clear rifle, trust me. Even if you go with a plastic body, clear = bad. My pick is a toss up between the CA and G&G sportline models.

HA! And added bonus, you get to watch when the gearbox implodes on itself!

Off Topic - the worst thing I've ever seen happen to an airsoft gun was when I watched one of the old STAR M249 models fire it's last shot. The gears in the thing literally exploded, the sound was horrible. Mid suppressive fire, then suddenly a loud whack followed by what sounded like a coffee grinder. When we opened the gearbox to look, tiny chunks of gears went everywhere. Those were the worst excuses for a support weapon ever produced.
Dark_Harvey
Haha, oh man. Never witnessed anything quite that catastrophic. Were those the ones that used nylon-fiber gearboxes or some such, or am I thinking of something else?

Yep that's the one. Shredded those 'extra strength' nylons like a fat kid vs a Snickers Bar. It was stock too. The guy thought about remaking the gearbox, but there was so much collateral damage that he ended up selling the remaining good parts and getting a CA 249, which to my knowledge he still has and carries occasionally.
