Full Version: Airsoft Sniper Rifles For Sale? What Website To Go With?

I am somewhat new to airsoft and what not. I have owned a few of the cheaper guns, but I was curious as to where I can find some high end airsoft sniper rifles for sale (a good website, since I don't live anywhere near any good airsoft shops). In your guys' oppinion, what are some of the best websites for buying airsoft guns? I don't necessarily need the cheapest prices, but would rather have a combination of good customer service and decent prices.

I have had some really bad experiences with some of the airsoft websites, so I would like to hear what you guys recommend. Also, would the UTG L96 be a good choice for an airsoft sniper rifle? I really like the way they look, and I heard that UTG is a pretty good manufacture.

Thanks for any help/advice, as it is greatly appreciated!

airsoftgi.com, trinityairsoft.com, and hotspotairsoft.com are all good sites to check out stateside I've dealt with hotspot and trinity personally and have had good experiences and I've heard nothing but good things about GI.

In terms of a sniper rifle, first off I'm almost obligated to say that if you're new to airsoft becoming a sniper might not be the best thing for you to do. First off being an airsoft sniper is a lot more about scouting and recon then it is about racking up kills, it's not quite as action packed as most new players think it will be.
Even if you do decide to become a sniper right off the bat getting a sniper rifle that performs better than a stock aeg, that is a sniper rifle that will be consistently accurate at significantly longer ranges than aeg's, requires a lot of time, effort, and most importantly money.
If you're dedicated to being a sniper I would suggest starting off with a TM vsr-10 or other high end sniper rifle that can be upgraded. UTG in general is a shoddy manufacturer and is not compatible with most upgrade parts.
I myself have never been a sniper so I'm not sure exactly what rifle would be the best to start off with, I just recommended the TM as a starting point and because I've heard it is a reliable gun.

Yeah, it's a tough role that takes some extra skill and some extra gun, but it's potentially doable for someone in your shoes.

I'm still leary of UTG, but if their version of the L96 accepts Maruzen Type 96-style upgrade parts (which if I recall correctly it does?), you could be in business with a little upgrading.

A stock spring rifle like that UTG won't have any considerable performance advantage over most other guns on the field, meaning you could wind up pounding it out against an AEG, which with a bolt action is tough. To give yourself a range advantage, you'll eventually want to do a little work on the gun. There are a few things you can do right off the bat that shouldn't cost much, and since working on spring rifles isn't terribly hard, you can do this yourself.
I'd recommend a lightly upgraded spring - enough to boost velocity a little but not enough to require any major, expensive upgrading - maybe an M120 or 130. Then I'd make sure your airseal parts get good compression, and look into a good hopup bucking for accuracy. That would be roughly $20 for a spring, maybe $7 for cylinder grease, and $10 for a hopup bucking on a high estimate. Add that to a $1-200 clone, and you can have a pretty respectable rifle for a very reasonable price.

As Ruckus mentioned, sniping is hard. The only two advantages you have as a sniper are camouflage and long effective range. Without either of those, you're just a guy with a really impractical rifle.

I started by picking up a bolt action springer and making a pretty good ghillie. The rifle ended up sucking, but my ghillie worked, and I picked up a lot of fieldcraft experience that way. I'd advocate making the ghillie to have as an option if nothing else, as it really makes your job easier if you stay low and slow. There's a guide up somewhere on here, if you're interested I can link you to it.

As for guns, I'd look for any clone that's compatible with high end aftermarket parts, so certainly something like the JG Bar 10 would be good. It's a TM VSR clone, so it accepts all TM upgrade parts.

I didn't know the L96 accepted parts, but I do know that the m324 does not, or at least the older versions didn't.

Like I said, I'm not really sure if it does. It would be my guess that it would, since they'd be stupid to design a proprietary gun when they could give customers a competitive upgrade platform. Then again, like I also said, I'm still leary of UTG... But definitely something for the OP to check up on.
