Ahh....The M-4, a beautiful and well designed lead-thrower. The actual M-4 entered into service with America's armed forces sometime in '94 or '95, replacing the M733 Commando and the Car-15 as the CQB weapon of choice for american special forces. The main Differences between the M733, Car-15, and the M-4 are the M-4s larger barrel, different markings, and the removable carry handle top.

The purchase:

Well, I was waiting for a very long time to get the cool (cue cool music), the sexy, the wonderful, the well known AK-47 (music comes to a dead stop.) By now you are falling out of your chair going WTF!?!? I thought this was an SR-16 review. Well yes it is, so onward with the reading. I definately knew that I wasnt going to get a Stupid piece of crap plastic mp5 or a Pansy P-90. Only men can carry Rifles, and women carry sub machine guns, and berettas, both are stupid concepts anyway.

I inspected the Ak. I liked the looks, the hi-cap clip compacity, everything about the ak made me crazy, or happy, whatever. But, then I saw the love of my life, just sitting behind the glass cases. I asked to look at the SR-16. Yes, I knew that I could actually modify it fairly easily due to the 5 R.I.S. rails that are on it (including the reciever top). So, I bought the SR-16, two High caps, two batteries, a charger and a discharger. On the way home, the damn box was so big It wouldnt fit in the trunk, So I had to hold it diagonally in the back seat. Anyway, enough of the crap you dont care about. On with the criticism.....

Looks/feel of the gun

I got home and opened the box, and to my amazement, there were 9 different manuals. (yes, count 'em, 9) They even give you one about the M-16A2, why I dont know, but they did, and it looks kinda cool on the cover. The trademarks are some of the coolest I have seen yet, and look just like the real SR-15 carbine's, except the SR-16 isnt a real gun, its real name is the SR-15. I guess Marui just wanted to avoid lawsuits that would come from each and every direction. The trademarks say SR-16 M-4 Stoner Rifle, and below that they have the knights armament corp. symbol, which is the coolest company logo I have ever seen bar none. Below that it says Cal 5.56mm and the Serial number KA20511. On the other side of the reciever, it says Knight's MFG. Co. Vero Beach, FL. U.S.A. On the top of the barrel it says 5.56 Nato 1/7. Nice trademarks, really, if you never go play airsoft, just buy the gun anyway, it looks really sexy on the wall on a stand. Now for the firepower demonstration.

Shooting

I charged up the battery, and got ready for a 'test drive.' I took the paper targets it came with and set the hop-up system, which is behind the empty shell ejector port. I took a first shot in semi auto, and it nailed it perfectly on the middle circle, just a little to the upper left. I switched the selctory switch to full auto, and nailed the target within a 3 1/2 inch grouping from 30 yards(rough estimate of range) Then I got a little cocky and started aiming and shooting with just one hand, hit the neighbors bedroom window. So after I booked it inside, I called it a day. I went to the field the next day, which happens to be the only completely inside airsoft field in the U.S.A. We played a game of 'Battle of the warehouse sector', and I was one of three defenders against ten warehouse raiders. The defenders and I all took up defensive positions in the warehouse, then the lights went out. Much to my dismay, the workers thought it would be good for a night game, and trust me, it was so dark I could barely see anything. I took out seven defenders before my battery ran out, so i owned another with my Glock 18. Then I got shot twice by a guy with a riot shield. In my opinion he was cheap in hiding behind a plastic riot shield, but hey, thats what you expect in a warehouse fight.

Rating of the SR-16

Looks: 10/10. Great looking gun. Nice jet black color tone on the whole gun. Awesome trademarks. Has the boo ya appeal.

Feel: 8/10. It is the heaviest A.E.G. next to the Psg1 I believe. Its very comfortable to hold and run with, despite weight.

Performance: 7/10. Its better than most stock A.E.G.s that I have shot, and it shoots very accurately. A red dot scope and a silencer wouldnt hurt at all though. ((X.X))

Upgradeablility: 10/10. It is an M-4, so that should hint to you at how many upgrades that are available.

Fallen Warrior, Should I get this gun? Yes, you should, if you are taller than 5 feet 11 inches, and can deal with 7.5 pounds + of weight, otherwise go get a pansy mp5 or a ugly P-90. It performs great and is really great looking. This gun though hefty, is great at both CQB and woodland games. Overall this gun gets a 10/10.

Just make sure that you label the email with something that pertains to the SR-16, or it might get deleted. My aol Screen name for the aol instant messenger is oxVulcanRavenxo, but I really recommend emailing me first.
